Hi, i cant share folders on a newly build pc. It worked for a while, then
along came this thing called netware. I can't use the welcome screen, share
folders or print. There is more information here (it's a thread i asked a
while back which nobody answered):

I cannot install "client for microsoft networks"or any other client, from my
wireless connection propeties or any other connections. I tried removing all
other protocals and services (that were not on other computers i have). I can
remove them, but i cannot install the client things:

Ive tried reinstalling the netgear driver and ulity - no luck
Ive tried upgrading to sp2 - didn't work, im going to try it again later
I beleive the problem could be in svchost.exe, but if u terminate the
process it'll shut your pc down. I tried copying another svchost.exe into it
after disabled the process (using command prompt), yet you can't use the
taskmanager until the process restarts :(
Can anybody sort out what's wrong, point me in the direction to fix it - i
dont want to reformat.

Thanks
Thomas

P.S I have unistalled client for netware, yet every time i try enabling the
welcome screen i still get the error saying about having to unistall netware
to enable it. I went into the registry to change the "logon_type" string
value, yet that had no effect.

Not sure if I understand but I thought I might offer some suggestions. Are
you using netware network server software to connect between your 2 PC's
instead of the built in XP network software? Is this through a router? You
might have to turn off the router firewall if it is on or activate the
service in the router setup. It's possible you may need to set up port
forwarding also.
