Shared Folders

I am setting up a Windows XP box as a file server accessible through
Windows networking over a peer-to-peer network. Some of the client
computers are XP and some are Windows 2000.

Even though I have shared a folder with Everyone have full control, when
another computer tries to connect to the shared folder, it is asked
for the user name and password. If I add the remote users in the server,
the prompt goes away, of course.

Is there a way to share the XP folder such that is is accessible by
anyone on the network other than by enabling the Guest account on the
server hosting the folder?

Hi mcp6453,

Place all the computers under the same domain name, with different
computer names for each computer. Then add / make sure each computer has
File and Print Sharing enabled. Finally right-click on the folder you wish
to share and manually share it.

If a Firewall is installed, you must also configure the firewall to
permit access.

I had already done these things before I posted. They're all in the same
workgroup (not domain name.) Each computer has a different name. File
and Print Sharing is enabled on each computer. The firewall is not enabled.
