Folder sharing problem

I'm having trouble trying to share a folder on a removable hard drive.
It is a Seagate USB drive, and I *did* have the folder share working a
few weeks ago, but now there is a problem I haven't been able to resolve.

When I open an explorer window on any of the computers in my home
network, the folder I want to share is listed under My Network Places.
But when I try to view the contents of the folder, I get this error message:

"\\P4-d820\DCS-4 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find
out if you have access permissions.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

I am logged in on an account which has administrator privileges, and I
get this message even on the machine to which this USB drive is
connected. The path name specified in the error message is correct.
Other shared folders which are on the main hard drives on this machine
do not have this problem, only the folder I am trying to share on this
USB drive.

Why has this problem occurred when it was working previously? How do I
resolve it? Thanks!

Thank you *very much* for your help. I have resolved the problem after
looking at some of the pages referenced in the link you provided.

This problem exists with many different versions of Windows and requires
changing the IRPStackSize setting in the registry. The default value of
that setting varies depending on the version of Windows. For Windows XP
it is 15, and increasing it to 16 fixed the problem.

In the two machines I checked, the IRPStackSize key was not even
present, which results in the default value of 15 being used. I didn't
find a KB article that specifically addresses this issue in Windows XP.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177078 comes close, although it is about
a problem with a virus scanner rather than with folder sharing.

I wonder why a problem that has been discussed so often over a period of
years hasn't been decisively fixed?
