Can't print from IE 6

Hi,

I have a user who, back in the fall, tried to upgrade to IE7 when it was
still in beta mode. IE would not run after doing this, and I had to do a
system restore to the previous day to get it removed from her system.
Presumably at the same time, her IE6 stopped printing, and I can't figure
out why. Whenever she tries to print from IE6, nothing happens. She can hit
the print icon, or do File | print, and it never does anything, nor does it
open up the print window for her to select printers, etc.
Another quirky thing is that if I go to Tools | About Internet Explorer,
instead of getting the icon and version numbers, I get html text only.
I tried to upgrade her to IE7 after it's release, and it installs OK, but
when you click on it, no web page will be displayed, it seems to stop
responding and just hang. I was able to uninstall it back to IE6, but I
still have the printing problem.
Any suggestions? I would be glad to just completely uninstall, if I knew I
could do that and install either 6 or 7 back and have it work normally, but I
suspect that would require registry editing, and I'm not sure where to start.
Thanks in advance for any help!

That sounds like third-party interference. Have you tried (in IE7)
No Add-ons mode or in either IE7 or IE6sp2 Manage Add-ons?
E.g. with IE7 Run... (press Win-R) and enter:

iexplore.exe -extoff -nohome

Then click the Stop button.

I was able to uninstall it back to IE6, but I
still have the printing problem.

With IE6 you could try an IE Repair. E.g. the cmd file provided
courtesy of MVP Kai Schaetzl:

One thing that only a manual repair procedure can do is highlight
problems found while doing the regsvr32 commands that are common
to all. E.g. in the original IE Repair they were hidden during a boot;
in the IE6sp2 /rereg they are hidden by using that switch and in Kai's
procedure they are hidden by the use of the /s switch on the regsvr32
commands. Unfortunately I don't know of any way of automating it
to extract the list of non-zero return codes that could result from
executing the same list without the /s switch but doing that could give
you a better idea of where remaining problems were.

Good luck
