Can't print after XP update

I can't print anymore after a Windows XP update... when
I "copy xxx > LPT1" there is a communication. So I can
print from dos prompt, but not from XP anymore.

Why? What is the solution -- none so far

problem after XP upgrade with my HP Deskjet.
