Cant Play Storyboard

i cant see the video on the preview but i can hear the audio............but i
can watch the video files i imported in the collections...........i can save
the movie, add transitions, effects,etc................but when i play the
story board i cant see the video on the preview window

the extention of the video clip is .avi and i checked on GSpot for
information about the video and it says the video codec is Xvid

Do you have the XVid codec?
Unfortunately it seems there are many xvid codecs available that are no good
maybe that's the case with you.
Maybe try downloading a new codec here:

hi....lukin at ur replys i think ur the rite guys 2 help me out...

i had da same problem as above runnin vista premium... ive downloaded the
codec from the link mentioned..... ill try runnin it soon...


thing is... what do i do then??? it installs in new folder... shud i just
play my movie as i always did...or shud i do sumthin else 2....???

Would you be willing to help me? I am using Windows Movie Maker 2.1. It was
working well for a while but then stopped. All of it seems to be prefectly
fine except that I cannot preview or play any of my current story board. I
have tried a lot of things. Do you have any advice? I would really
appreciate your help. Thanks.

A first place to start is to see if you have incompatible source (video
and/or audio) files. Try this URL:

Another trick that sometimes works is to uncheck the boxes in Tools|
Options| Compatibility.
