preview pane stuck on play, won't show storyboard in motion

I was altering audio clips and sliding back and forth, I got an error message
and noticed the preview pane went blank. The preview pane play button stays
on and I never get the choice of stop or pause. I can click on a movie clip
within the imported files and it will play in the preview pane. But when I
go down to the storyboard to view my overall project , nothing plays. This
has just happened, I have viewed it for months with no problem.
I can go to other saved copies of the same project and have no problem
clicking on play and watching the finished version of what I have put
together.
How can I unstick the preview pane to watch my story board in motion???

Have you made qny changes to your pc? Installed or unistalled absolutely
anything at all?

no changes, I was in the middle of work, minutes earlier it was working and
I was dragging the music backwards while the preview pane was still on play.
I have several other saved movie maker files and those do play in the preview
pane. Something I did while working , I think caused this to fail in my
current project.

Regardless of whether they worked or not previously, some files like mp3's
are terrible to use in MM.
