editing clip after publishing

I'm trying to edit a little slideshow that I created in Movie Maker. It's a
sequence of digital still photos with old fashioned subtitle panes between
them over a soundtrack. I burned it to DVD and it plays fine. Now I want to
replace the subtitle panes which are hard to read. When I use "import media"
or "import project" the project shows up as a thumbnail in the library.
Double click and it plays in the preview window. Drag the thumbnail to the
timeline or the storyboard and it plays in the preview window but the first
frame sticks in the timeline or storyboard; I can't get the rest of the
frames to show so I can remove the subtitle panes and put in new ones.

This is a WMV file about 90 seconds long.

How can I get the frames to show in a sequence like they did when I finished
the project?

A .wmv file is a single completed movie file...
if you wish to re-edit a project you need the
..mswmm project file.
