Can't Play MIDI files,

They play ok on other PC's.

Tryed,
WMP10 - no sound, progress pointer moves.
Media Player Classic - no sound, progress pointer moves.
Audacity 1.2.4 - when import midi and try to play it, I get error message:

"Error while opening sound device. Please check the out
put device settings and the project sample rate."

Yep !

All file types, including MIDI selected, wmp10 still won't play Midi files
on this machine?

I had installed a program to conver MIDI to WAV on this
machine, it was poor, so uninstalled it, maybe it broke
something, can't remember which converter it was, just a freebie.

What's the volume setting for MIDI in your Volume Control?

What's the setting in "Control Panel | Sound and Audio Devices | Audio |
MIDI music playback - Default device:"?

Brilliant ! problem fixed

Thanks Michael Bednarck

In my Master Volume,
found SW Synth had mute box ticked,
also several other inputs was also muted, line-in, cd, wav,
except master volume that was not muted.

I un-ticked SW Synth, MIDI now plays.

Thanks again.
