Hello,
If anyone can help that'll be appreciated. Two computers in the company
network. One windows xp pro the other windows 2000. Windows 2000 machine can
ping xp machine and access printerrs/files and such, however xp cannot
contact/ping/tracert the windows 2000 machine. Both are properly joined on
the domain. Other windows 2000 computers in the network environment have the
same problem(but not all of them). Any ideas? Also, the firewall is turned
off.

Ping by name or by IP address? Are you sure your AD DNS is set up properly &
no clients/servers specify an external/public DNS server IP in their local
IP configuration?

There's no native firewall in W2k, so that can't be it. What other software
do you run that might contain a firewall application? Some antivirus suites
include one.

Note - if you have a domain, it's best to leave file & print sharing for
your servers, rather than relying on workstations. One of the benefits of a
domain is centralized everything. I realize you still need to resolve your
particular problem, but take this under consideration.

Fixed it......I went and did more troubleshooting and found that the cisco
vpn client's stateful firewall was set to always on so I disabled it and it
worked. Thanks anyways.

Glad you found it!
