Can't Open XLS by clicking on File.

Hi

i've seen this problem on installs where the server is running unix / linux
with windows on the desktop machines - i don't know the fix for it.

Help! I can open Excel, and then "file" "open" and open a spreadsheet, but if
I just go to 'my documents' and click on a XLS file, Excel opens, but no
spreadsheet comes up. (the file I clicked on.) any clues as to why? XLS file
type is associated with Excel, so it should work!

Uncheck "Ignore other applications" under Tools, Options, General.

Hi
try the following:
goto 'Tools-Options-General " and uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

1. Close Excel first and
2. On the Windows Taskbar
2.1 Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2.2 Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.
