can't open spreadsheet

I'm having a strange problem. I have a floppy disk on which I keep my
addresses. I also have other spreadsheets on the same floppy disk. The
"other" spreadsheets are all opening just fine but when I go to open my
addresses spreadsheet I get this error reading. EXCEL caused an invalid page
fault in
module EXCEL.EXE at 017f:300d6c1f.

Don't save/open directly from floppies (or any removable media). Eventually this will
cause corruption.
Copy to your HD and open from there and v/v - Save to the HD and copy to the floppy.

I tried this but it is still giving me the same error but with different
numbers. I can still open the other files but not my addresses file.

You can send me a copy of the file if you like and i'll have a go at
recovering it for you. You need to take the NOSPAM bit out of my email
address though.

I have Excel 97. Guess that is way too old to recover. But I did find a
copy I had saved on CD in 1999 so that was "some" help. And I do have a
print out so will just bite the bullet and reenter it all.

Your call but no file is too old to try and recover. Could save you a lot
of effort. I'll know within a couple of minutes whether I can get it back
or not.

I guess I have more or less the same microsoft problem as Nutty in 2005. Can
you or anybody please help me? There is an urgency to it since I need to
finish this work for monday. I can NOT open EXCEL (1997 !) anymore
