Excel - invalid page fault in module MS097.dll

Vasilli

Hi,
At first I have faced this problem;
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in
module MSO97.DLL at 017f:307333ca.
Registers:
EAX=0092002e CS=017f EIP=307333ca EFLGS=00010213

Bytes at CS:EIP:

and try to solve it by using your method:,

"This is a default list of things-to-do when Excel
exhibits startup problems.

Try opening Excel without any addins or hidden workbooks:

Start, Run,
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\Excel.exe" /Automation

Quotes mandatory, Note you may have to change the path.

If your error disappears, there is either an add-in or a
(hidden)
workbook that is loaded upon XL's start, which bothers you.

- Try locating the XLSTART directory, move everything from
there.
- In XL: Tools, Addins, note the ones checked and uncheck
them one at the time, each time restarting XL
- In XL, Tools, options, general. Check if a path is
entered after "Alternate startup file location". Clear it."

Unfortunately, I am stuck with the problem again. But for
this time the following message pop-up;
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in
module MSO97.DLL at 017f:30705766.

and when I closed it, another message came out;

Have you tried the part that tells you to rename your toolbar
customisation file:

Yet another possible problem is a corruption of your toolbar
customisation file. Locate all files with extension .xlb (they may be
marked as hidden files, make sure you search for hidden files too) and
rename the extension(s) to something like .old
Now try and start XL again.

Hi,
I've tried to locate all files with extension .xlb but
could'nt found it (including hidden files). So, what
should I do next?
Please I'm desperate & really need that file.

Vasilli.

Hi Vasilli,
I've tried to locate all files with extension .xlb but
could'nt found it (including hidden files).

The file should be called Username8.xlb (username being your login
name).

What windows version are you using?

If XP:

Start, Search, look for "More advanced options", click it and select
"Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search
subfolders".

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your kind assistance.
Right now I'm using windows97.
I have already managed to get the file and change the
extension to '.xlb' but yet to get my file back.

Hope you have another solution for this time? and sorry, I
don't mean to get you in trouble.

Thank you.
Vasilli
