Cant open my own documents files

I have windowsXPpro. The other day i turned on my PC and
it said config file missing, so i had to reinstall the
XPpro on top of the old copy

Now i can boot into windows but i cant get my documents
files because i had password protected on my documents
before i reinstall XP

If the files were protected by permissions, you can take ownership to
regain access:
HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

You have not told us how you added password protection to the files. Taking
ownership is successful when the files are protected by permissions. It
cannot circumvent protections put in place by other programs. Give the
above procedure a try. If you end up with some files that you still cannot
access, you'll need to post back with more information about them.
