Can't open a web page with Internet Explorer

when I open an htm or html file it opens with firefox. I went to the control
panel to allow these files to open with IEXPLORER.exe, but selection would
not take. How can I "open with" the browser I want?

Thanks. That did make the default browser IE, but the problem I am having
persists: When I open IE as the browser, then put in a URL, the web page
opens in Firefox, so I am unable to see how the page looks with Internet
Explorer.

How can I fix THAT?
