cant install xp

i have a hp pavilion dv 2519 tu, pre-installed with windows vist home
premium.
i tried to install xp on this but when i try i get to the part where
it says "accept the terms and conditions" and say next (hit f8) i get
the error" hard disk not found. "
my friend tried installing xp on his machine and got the same error.
i have been able to install various versions of linux but i just cant
seem to get xp on it..
and i desperately need xp

so can anyone please help me.. i am stuck real bad..

Sounds like you need the controller card drivers and use the F6 method to
get those drivers installed early enough to allow Windows XP installer to
see and utilize the drives connected to said controller. Your problem may
come in where Windows XP may not be supported by HP on that model of
computer and thus - there are no Windows XP drivers for it.

- Find out if there are controller drivers from Windows XP for that model of
machine.
- Get them if they exist.
- Look into using the F6 meothod during installation (Google) or integrating
them into your Windows XP installation media (Google.)

You need to provide the hard drive controller drivers via floppy using F6 as
setup is loading. There are XP drivers available here

but not the ones you need (storage). Your going to have to do some research
to determine the chipset and hard drive controller and find another place to
download them from as HP doesn't provide them.
