Can't install updates!

Hi I wonder if anyone can help?
Recently I can download the Windows updates, but they
wont install!
I even left it overnight & it won't do it.
Also after a while the computer slows down & I notice the
processor light is flashing awat without me running
anything.

Any ideas?
