When trying to install SP2, I get an error that says Can't read from or write
to database. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks!

Hi

How are you trying to install SP2? Via Microsoft Update or a disk?

Hi Anne,

Since you are having problems downloading using Windows Update, try this
link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

Download and save the file to your Briefcase on the Desktop.

Once downloaded, disable your Anti-Virus Background Scanner, as well as
all Spyware scannings, plus you need to uninstall any active Browser
protection that Spybot installs. Once that is all done, stop all Instant
Messenger programs.

Then open up the Briefcase and click on the file downloaded. Does not
have to be installed from the Desktop. Leave it in the Briefcase.

Install Service Pack 2 from the Briefcase folder.

I always download and save to the Briefcase folder, because it makes
finding programs downloaded easier.

Thank you for your suggestion! Unfortunately it did not work, and I'm still
getting the same error. Any other ideas?

Error message that you receive when you try to update a Windows XP-based
computer to Windows XP Service Pack 2 by visiting the Windows Update Web
site: "Unable to read from or write to database"

Hi Anne,

How many partitions to do have? Can you move your Documents to another
partition? Can you backup your Briefcase to another partition, as well as
your E-mails and Favorites?

If you can, the solution is to reformat and reinstall Windows XP, then
before doing anything else, apply Service Pack 2 and go from there.
