Cant install a 250gig Maxtor drive.... Help Please!

Hi everyone. I purchased a 250gig maxtor drive(IDE)... It came with a maxtor
controller card. When I first got it I was able to install the card and the
harddrive pretty much ok. I then had a 250gig drive in windows as an
additional data drive. I was having some crash issues and uninstalled the
card(thinking it was related to that, it was not ultimately)... But now I
cannot get the hard drive to be recognized as 250gig..... The Maxtor ATA
card only sees it as a 32(33?) gig drive.... And thats it.... I purchased a
second maxtor ata card and it too only sees 32 gigs.

But... If I plug it into the ata100 slot on the motherboard(which I cant use
since it wont go past 137gig ultimately) .... It IS detected as 250
gigs...and I can run all the maxblast utilities on it as a 250 gig drive.
but even if I format it, and then plug it in to the ATA card(I'm setting it
on Cable Select when I do) ... it is now sees only as 32 gigs!!!!

What can I do to get my card to be seen ok??!!

Thank You for any help!!!

Must be a bug then. An '28-bit LBA only' bios should recognize it as 137GB.
and I can run all the maxblast utilities on it as a 250 gig drive.

So it must be using 48-bit LBA alright.
but even if I format it, and then plug it in to the ATA card (I'm setting it

Must also be a bug in that cards bios.
Most likely induced by something in the MBR.
See what happens when you erase the MBR (sector 0).
