Can't import contents of messages.

Can anyone tell me how to restore my recieved messages from a backup to my
new email account?

My inbox shows the headers for all of my recieved messages including the
subject line. But, where the message should be it says "Message cannot be
found".

This all happened because I had to restore my computer to original defaults.
First I did total backup to my "D" drive. Then restored the "C" drive. I
had to set up a new email account. Then I managed to find my contacts and
what I thought were my messages in the backup and restored them to C. I'm
on Vista Home Basic if that matters.

See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background on how the messages are stored in WinMail. Search your backup for *.eml and then use File | Import | Messages and point to the topmost directory of the message store (it will contain the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file. If the import fails, you can create a folder in WinMail and open it and then drag the eml files overtop that folder and drop them to incorporate them. My OEX program (www.oehelp.com/OEX/) will also let you point to directories of eml files and import them.

You also need to compact and repair the database if you have messages that can't be found. See www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/
