Can't go to windowsupdate after getting rid of worm

I had the Blaster worm this week - did all the patches,
downloads, etc. to get rid of the worm and repair the
system. However, when I try to go to the Windows Update
page to let Windows scan my computer to let me know if
there are any further critical updates that I need, I
still get a message that indicates that Windows doesn't
recognize that I'm using a Windows OS (this is what it
did when I had the worm in the computer). It says that I
must be using a Windows OS in order to access this
feature. Any ideas?
