Blaster worm and windows update

Had the wormy surprize on the 16th. Today I loaded the
patch, downloaded the worm removal tool from Symantec and
cleared the worm, and updated to NORTON Internet Security
2003.

I'm running XP Pro. I can get to the windowsupdate site,
select updates, and attempt download. All downloads fail
and simply indicate to try again.

Does anyone know if this is worm "residue?"

The worm 'missed' Windows update, its more likely that MS were being over
loaded by requests for the patch
