Can't get out of the Safe Mode Menu

I am trying to help a friend with a Toshiba Laptop running XP. It boots to
the choice menu for Safe Mode, Last Good Boot, and Normal. Every choice
takes you to a blue screen that does not stay on long enough to read (and
Pause won't stop it) and the system reboots to the same choice menu. When
selecting Safe Mode, the loading list stops at agp.sys, hangs for a time and
goes to the blue screen and back to reboot. How can I get past this and at
least to Safe Mode so I can rememdy the problem? He does not have a rescue
disk with the computer and I don't believe he made one. With the amount of
information regarding his business I am sure he does not want to
reformat/reinstall although it may be the only option. Any assistance or
advice would be greatly appreciated.

When you get to this menu is there an option to disable automatic restart?
If so select it, then post back with the BSOD message.
