Can't get Favorites to work

This lady had spyware on her computer so I disabled system restore
and
removed all of spyware then we updated her pc with Microsoft update
and got new IE7. After opening IE7 we noticed that her favorites were
gone so I checked in Documents and Settings to see if they were still
there and they are still in her favorites there. I went into the
registry and tracked down were those settings are. I noticed that
there was no path beside the favorites entry there so I put in the
path to her favorites and closed regedit opened IE7 and still no
favorites. I then went back into regedit and the path that I put in
was gone again. I re-entered the path and closed regedit opened back
up again and the path was gone?????????

Any help would be appreciated

One wonders if you'd removed all hijackware.
