Hi

I am currently have the folowing issue

Excel 2000 on Windows 2000 pro machine

trying to open a excel spreadsheet from outside of excel
Error: Cannot find the file "c:\*.*" "or one of its
components) ........

KB article 296055 covers the error, however the resolution
does not resolve the issue.

I have even tried un-instaling and re-installing

opening the sheet from inside of excel works and it is
only affecting one user on the machine, other users on the
same machine still work fine

Can you be more specific about the solution. The article you refer to talks
about how to edit the registry but says nothing about Excel problems. I am
having the same problem as you with Excel.
