Can't find CD & DVD Drive on My Comuputer

Just recently, my CD and DVD drives do not show up on My Computer. Also,
when I insert a disc into the drive, nothing happens. I go to Device
Manager, and see that both drives are there, and enabled. Can somone help?

I tried every single one you guys gave me and it didn't work. Finally, I
just went to system restore and restored to 4 days ago. The drives appear in
My Computer now so I'm happy.

Just so you know in the future if this happens again and a SR does not work,
after deleting the filters or running the cdgone script a reboot is required
for the changes to take effect.

This regedit fix resolved the missing DVD/CD-RW for my sony PCG-FXA36 LAPTOP.
And YES I did remove roxio CD creator and this solution worked PERFECTLY.
I did the regedit, uninstalled the DVD/CR-RW driver, scanned for hardware
changed and VOILA!!! the cdrom device came back.
