can't find boot ini

I received this error message:

"cannot find Boot.ini file, do you want to create a new one?"

Before saying yes, tho't I'd submit this post for the advice of a
sympathetic MVP.

Put your XP CD on the drive and restart. Go to Recovery Console and type in there

bootcfg /rebuild

and restart Windows (without the CD). Further information on Recovery Console:

if your comp isn't starting, then say yes. Maybe then it'll start.
Saying 'yes' is reversible. It's just creating a file you should have
anyway.

If you're afraid of clicking yes or no when you're not sure, then you
may as well throw your computer out of the window anyway 'cos it won't
be much use to you. (assuming you're not afraid to do that).
if the message box says click yes or no. "WARNING, CLICKING YES MAY
REMOVE CONTENTS OF YOUR HARD DRIVE" then you might want to hesitate.

Figure out the philosophy of windows already. It's really not very
difficult.
