Can't edit Sharepoint Portal site

Hi, im currently developing a website using Sharepoint Portal 2003 and
Frontpage 2003...I want to edit the site using frontpage 2003, problem is,
whenever I open the homepage (default.aspx) for editing, the Design View is
empty, actually there is no Design View, just the Web Site Tab..I also tried
creating a page from there, still the newly created site cannot be viewed or
edit. Please help. thanks

I installed the Frontpage Server Extension 2002 thinking that this might be
the problem, but still, I cant edit the portal site. An error appears
everytime I try to edit the page over IE.
Error:

" The server could not complete your request. Contact the Internet Service
Provider or the Web server adminstrator to make sure the server has FP Server
Extesions or SharePoint Services Installed."

Please help, im running out of solutions...And time for the project

uhhmm..im using a trial version of Frontpage 2003...I uncheck the Sharepoint
Services in authoring and I tried opening the page again in Frontpage 2003,
the page would appear and when the Activation Box appreas requiring me to
unlock Frontpage the page would disappear..could this be the problem?
