Can't Download PDF

I hope I'm putting this in the correct discussion group. I can't download any
PDF files. When I try to all I get is a tiny box in the upper left corner of
my browser that has a tiny red square, a blue triangle and a tiny circle in
it. No error messages of any kind! I've tried puting the web site in my
"trusted sites", resetting security to defaults, etc. NO LUCK. Hope someone
can help!

Thanks for your response ~ I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader and it worked
great for about 3 downloads (small instruction files from Bernat Yarn) ~ NOW
my IE freezes up. I tried to look on the troubleshooting site you mentioned
but I'm not that computer savy. I am using Windows ME (which I hate) and made
sure the Adobe Reader was the 6.0.1 as the site says the 7.0 was not for
Windows ME. Seems like such a simple task but I don't have a clue why it
stopped working now.

When you hover the mouse over the link to the PDF download, what does the status bar in IE say is the URL to that download? Does it look like <somepath>\<somefile>.pdf, or does it end with a .cgi, .html, or some other extension?

What happens if you go into Acrobat Reader and *disable* its integration with IE? Instead of trying to load the PDF file within the window for the browser, an instance of acroread.exe gets loaded and will complete the download of the PDF file and you view it there (I actually prefer this since I don't want the browser to get locked up displaying the PDF file since I might to view other PDFs listed there or continue using that instance to navigate to other pages).

Acrobat Reader has updates to go from 6.01 to 6.02 to 6.03 - maybe you need
to update from 6.01

Hi,
See if this advice from Frank Saunders helps:
- - -
If it is only .pdf files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.pdf

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist
