download failures

I can't do any downloads in IE 6.0. All I get when I try to download
anything is the little square with teh red square, dark circle and blue
triangle. My security level is set to accept downloads. Even if I click on
the link with the control key pressed it still does the same thing. What
can I do to fix this thing? Thanks.
