Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here
it goes. When i go to a website to download something,
it says downloading on the bottom of the page but it
only brings up a page with a little square in the upper
left hand corner. The square has a red square , a gren
circle and a blue triangle in it. I cannot download
anything. Can someone tell me what is wrong? I figure
its in my settings but not sure where.

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.

I have exactly the same problem. IE thinks I want to jump
to another web page instead of download a file. Have you
solved this problem? Please let me know. I right click and
use 'save target as' but this is a bodge rather than
solving the problem.

I fixed the problem. Quick time had a plug in that was
the .exe file in the registry. I deleted it and
everything is ok now. Thank you.
