I've a print job which has got stuck on its way to the
printer. It won't delete using cancel etc. Says it's
deleting but just sits there. Any methods to get rid?

Using XP Pro and the document is a Word document, if that
makes any difference.

Tried rebooting and also tried just turning the printer
off an on. Even deleted and reinstalled the printer
(networked) but the little blighter just sits there and
stares at me!!

Can't get anything to print any more because of this.

Hi

The local printer is my own so it won't clear locally.
Stopped print spooler and restarted but the job's still
there. Tried from the main server but that won't shift it
either.

This seems to be a problem affecting several people. I've
always eventually managed to get Win 98 to shift a stuck
job but clever old XP can't cope it would seem.

Now fixed the problem. The initial cause I eventually
diagnosed to be that my printer output in printer
properties (for the networked printer) was set to RAW
rather than Spool (I'd set this by mistake instead of the
printer connected to my lpt 1 port which I use for my dos
printing - it's the same physical printer but with a
different name and configuration and connection). Now
that I've set the network printer back to spool it works
fine.

To clear the print job I had to go to the server on which
the printer had been installed, stop the spooler then
start it again (control panel/services). That's all it
took. I had the same problem again before I reset the
printer properties and it took me 10 seconds to clear it
instaed of the 8 hours fumbling around before!!

For a standalone XP pc with the same problem to an lpt
connected printer, I can only suggest the same workround
i.e. go to control panel/services and stop and restart
the print spooler.

Good luck to those of you who contacted me to say you had
the same problem!!

I am having the same issue with 2 XP machines that use a
HP Designjet 800. The plotter is networked via JetDirect.
I have the latest drivers and firmware loaded. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I have made so
many adjustments to the plotter my finger is raw. I have
one other XP machine that doesn't have this problem.

I think it is a problem w/ the spooler. When I stop and
restart the spooler service, I can then delete the print
job, but only after it tries to send the job again.

Any other thoughts?
