Can't Delete 'Notification Area', Icon

M

Mikie

Hello,

RE: WIN XP, All XP Updates.

The program is VCom Utilities. What a nerve! I don't have many options,
obviously.

I looked it up in the individual files in C:\ Program Files and there
are two such icons...among the many; one is the EXE file, the orher
reads "MXTASK" I didn't want to delete the exe. icon, and it would
not allow me to delete the mxtask icon.

Is there anything I can do to NOT have to deal with that irritating
Icon?

Thanks,
Mike
Trouble with this world is there is to much apathy, but who cares,
anyway?

What have you installed on your computer that is published by VCom (maybe
Fixit Utilities Professional)? It is a well known company.

Go into the program's options/preferences and see if you can prevent this
from starting automatically. If you investigate a bit about the program, you
may find that you do "not" want to disable this. Your looking at the
preferences/options should allow you to make a decision.

In Vcom System Suite, there's a checdkbox to "only show icon when an
application is running", or something like that. Unfortunately/fortunately,
the Net Defense Firewall is always running. [I know it has a seperate icon,
too. But they're vague about that being one of the "apps running" or not.]
I believe MxTask is the background task server, and can be stopped in
Windows "services", from Administrative Tools. That may stop the Antivirus,
though.
