can't delete messages

A friend sent me to this group, and I read how to delete messages that
wouldn't delete by going to Microsoft for a download. Well, it didn't
work, all I could do was highlight about 20 at a time & delete them
that way. I had way over 300 messages. Is there any other suggestions
from anyone on how to fix this? I've had this computer (new) for about
3 months and this JUST started happening. And it doesn't seem totally
compatible with my printer. And it won't work on sleep function, it
won't come out of it. If I turn it on, it just shows a black screen
and all I can do is turn it off by holding the on/off button in on the
computer & start over, sometimes a couple times, then I get a black
screen that gives me choices to choose from, saying the computer
wasn't shut down properly. I have to turn it off everytime. I wish
someone could tell me a way to make the sleep function work, I don't
know how good it is to have to restart it more than once a day, so
sometimes I just leave it on all day, and also, if i'm not online, the
screensaver doesn't come on. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks, and sorry for
so many questions, but I think I got a real lemon.

Have you tried to download and install both the 32-bit version and the
64-bit version of this fix?

The one that doesn't match your version of Vista will just refuse
to install. If neither works, you may have to read the WORKAROUND
section there for something else to try. Although this fix is labelled as
for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in other folders.

Also, what if any antivirus and other security programs do you have?
Some of them cause assorted problems in Windows Mail, although
seldom immediately.
