I RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM TIMESHARE AND CANNOT DELETE IT! THERE WAS AN ERROR
WHEN IT WAS SENT. HELP!

Look in the Processes tab of Task Manager.
If you see WinMail.exe, end it.

Make sure WinMail is closed.
Click the Start orb.
Click Search.
Click Advanced Search.
Check the box to Include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
For Name type
WindowsMail.MSMessageStore
Click the Search button.
It should list two of them. Delete both

Thank you to Steve! It took me about an hour to get everything to work, but
I finally got the outbox empty! Now, I still have one message in the inbox
that won't go away, but I'll deal with that problem later.

The one in the outbox was preventing any other messages from sending. I am
a dodo bird because I didn't save any of the thank goodness only other 3
though, by copying them or somesuch, but it's not the end of the world. I
have never been here before, so I don't even know if I'm posting correctly!
Thank you Steve! I think a number of us just have a hard time thinking in a
technical way!

Hi chaps - that solution seems to work until the next time when you have to
do it all again!

But if you have the amount of directories and emails that I have, it is not
a realistic option to do this.

A simple solution (for me anyway) is to flag the offending emails in the
inbox and then create a view which hides the flagged emails.

Real solution is for MS to look at these exchanges and create a fix!

If users continue to express their frustrations in these blogs and better
still magasines, then the bad press will affect sales and begin to show a
cost deficit - MS will then show an interest.

Meantime, thankfully it is not the biggest problem we all have to face.

Keep smiling!

I doubt MS will spend one minute or one dollar to fix any probs in WinMail -
they have Live Mail to take over from it - though it is betaware at the
moment.

You say "Thank you to Steve!" but you quote my message. What did you do.
My method should take care of undeletable messages in all folders. For that
matter, so should Steve's. Also, my method should give you a Recovered
Messages folder with any messages that were really there before.

It sounds like you have an anti-virus scanning email. Email scanning should
be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.

Have you gotten anymore information about deleting emails from the inbox? I
have 2 of them and can't get rid of them.....appreciate your help if you have
any, Ruthie

I like your philosophy. Don't sweat the small stuff.
It's only a mail program, after all.
There's plenty more to choose from.

Why not try reading the responses from the experts instead of
wasting time chatting with fellow users, most of whom obviously
have no technical savvy.

I have a similar problem. Contacted my local cable provider. No help.
Referred me to Microsoft. Contacted Microsoft. No help. Referred me to Dell
where I purchased this new system one month ago. Dell informed me that the
sender of my message is using older operating software that is not compatible
with my new Vista Home Premium version. A problem always encountered in the
past when new operating software is released. I was informed that Microsoft
is working on the problem and will release solutions by updates as they
become availabile. Could run to the end of the year!! In the meantime that
message sits in in my Inbox , stuck.

Delete from which folder? If it's the Outbox see here:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil
Please read ALL of the instructions.

What Dell told you is absolute bullsh*t.

However, there is no doubt that Windows Mail has a design defect
which causes the occurrence of 'stuck' messages in various folders.
Since Microsoft may not release a fix until much later this year,
I suggest you switch to Windows Live Mail for the time being.

Is there anyone from Microsoft that can tell me how to fix this?? None of any
suggestions posted has worked! Very frustrated!!

Why should someone have to go thru all that? And if it keeps happening I
should redo my account each time?? That is not a solution!! I didn`t have
this problem with outlook express!! Its microsoft`s problem and they need to
fix it!!
