Can't Delete Empty Directory until Log off / Log On

Hello All..

I hope someone can help with this frustrating problem. Many times when I
delete all files from a directory, I try and delete the directory and the
system prevents me from doing so. It says a file is "in use" - or something
like that.

What I have to do is log off the computer and log back on - and then delete
the directory. This works 100% of the time time.

Can anyone tell me why my system is doing this? It's such a time waster to
take this action - since the directory is empty, it should delete as easy as
the files - but does not. I've even closed the explorer/file manager,
waited several minutes, opened it up again, and tryed deleting the
directory. It won't delete until I log off and log on.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much :)

I had this same problem last year after installing
TurboTax. It turned out that the spyware included in
TurboTax last year was the culprit, and after removing
it, the problem went away. The bad guy that time was
C_dilla, but I suppose there could be others causing the
same issue. Try running Lavasoft AdAware or Spybot Search
& Destroy and see if something like that has been
installed on your drive without your knowledge.

I don't think Ad Aware can fix the cdilla problem. Might be wrong
on that. Between the activation and offshore helpdesk issues, I
think a lot of people are wising up about Intuit. I'll be
experimenting with TaxBrain.com this April, myself. (Yep, I'm a
procrastinator.)

This year's Turbo Tax does not contain cdilla.
