Just recently I have been unable to connect to the
internet using my cable modem. The modem is working fine
and when I called comcast, they show that I'm connected
on their end. I have also tried unplugging the modem for
a while to reset it. The problem is that I either get a
the window to use dial up services or the explorer window
will open but each time I try to go beyond my homepage, I
get the message "Internet explorer could not open search
page" I had had a similar problem with secure sites
after downloading a certain update, but after I
uninstalled the update, things were fine again. Any help
in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dee

if you open a command prompt can you ping yahoo.com?

Is it a firewall problem? Can Comcast ping your computer or just see your
modem?
Do you have IE set to always dial a connection using a proxy?
