Can't clear the autocomplete cache

M

Martin

Hi all.
I've got a customer with Win XP prof and Outlook 2002.
He wants to start from the beginning regarding addresses in his
Outlook.

So, I did remove all addresses from his "Contacts". I removed his
..nk2-file (C:\Documents and Settings\martin\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings.NK2).

Rebooted the computer. Still the autocomplete-function suggest
addresses for some names. Having a look for the new .nk2-file shows me
(I am reading the file with notepad) that it is still full of
addresses.

I wonder if there are something more to do to for clearing the
autocomplete cache completely?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely

Sounds like you did not remove the correct NK2 file.
Rename the one that matches the Outlook profile.
That profile name is not used in Outlook 2002. Sounds like you did not do a
clean install.

It would appear as though your user migrated from an older version of OL. That's usually why the profile or NK2 file has the name: Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings.NK2 Regardless, follow Russ' instructions and make sure that you are dealing with the correct NK2 file.

For more information about the autocomplete file, take a look at a document that we prepared: http://www.dcs-imaging.com/autocompletetips.htm

If you wish to save any of the e-mail names contained in the NK2 file you can acquire a third party utility that we wrote called Owtlook. You can Google it if you're interested.
