I have a laptop so it has the usb port and I know that the computer reads the
camcorder because it doesn't find any images on the card (and there aren't
any) but when I use the movie maker and try to capture the video it says the
camera isn't connected right. What do I do??? I'm using the usb and camcorder
wire and it's on the card switch... so what's wrong??

it says "device to capture video was not detected. verify device is turned on
and connected properly and try again"

Do you have the USB driver for the camera installed? Firewire/IEE1394
connection is preferred over USB.
