Hello Again All,

I¹m writing on behalf of a colleague who has a faulty laptop.

Once again, I¹d like a list of troubleshooting options.

The laptop (which is on Windows XP I haven¹t been able to identify the
version) can boot past BIOS, and when choosing safe mode, start windows
normally, or try last known good configuration, it can boot to the normal
blue-bar loading screen but can¹t get past it. The laptop came with a
restore disc (made by the manufacturer) but that is totally useless, as it
wants to delete everything and re-install completely.

TIA

Hello Again All,

Thanks all for your replies and responses; they are much appreciated.

I managed to fix the solution by booting off the Windows XP setup disk and
entering these commands:

Chkdsk (which found errors)
Fixboot (which also found errors)

Odd that something which seemed boggling was solved with something simple,
eh?

Just letting you all know how it went and how it was fixed, for future
reference.

Thanks again.
