Can't Boot NTOSKRNL.exe

System has been working fine then all of a sudden shut
itself down then on reboot says NTOSKRNL.exe is corrupt
or missing. Not a clue where to start troubleshooting.
This is XP home on an HP system.

Hi: You can always do a http://www.google.com search for ntoskrnl.exe
, someone else will always have the same problem , and usually it is
quicker but read this ... Total

This is the KB article with the solution to your problem:

You will need the Windows XP cd for this. HP is so kind not to supply these
with any of their systems, so if you have one from another non-hp system you
can use that or borrow one from someone

My dad is having this problem too, and using Method 3 in
the aforementioned KB article, we're stuck at the
Administrator Password step. He doesn't have an
Administrator password. any clues as to how to proceed?

The Administrator password default is blank, so unless you specifically
set one, just hit Enter for the password.
