Can't access user files

My laptop died on me due to a short where the power cord plugs into the
laptop. I've fiddled with it to make it work before, but I decided to just
give up on it.

I bought a USB enclosure for the hard drive and hooked it up to the desktop.
I am able to access most of it just fine, but when I try to access my user
folder under Documents and Settings, it says it is not accessible.

Is this because my laptop went into Hibernate and couldn't be powered on?
The Administrator, All Users, and Default User folders work just fine.
