Cant access My computer and control panel from start menu on Xp

I click on start menu bring it up and i click on My computer my documents or
control panel and i get this sound but it does not open any of them how do i
fix such a thing and what is wrong? please help its driveing me nuts!!!

you could try making sure they are mapped to the correct place.

click start menu then right click on My Documents -> properties

under the target tab make sure that the "target:" path is actually
pointing to your my documents folder.
