cant access microsoft excel spreadsheets

i've had my computer since 2002, and have never had any problems with excel,
now i cant open any of my excel files. a windows installer pop up appears,
then a message that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM
that is not available" . does this mean that after 4 years this program has
expired, I didnt think i was purchasing a trial version?

any help would be great

No company issues a program with a 4-year trial period, doofus.
