Can't access desktop icons. Can someone help?

My desktop icons do not appear on desktop. Currently, I
must go to program list to pull up any programs. I right
clicked my mouse and selected send to desktop shortcut
option and they still won't reappear. My Norton antivirus
shows no viruses, but did recently eliminate Trojan Horse
virus. Don't know if that is somehow related to this.
APpreciate any suggestions.

.
Also, try going to your Start menu, and then right-
clicking My Computer and whatever else you would like to
be on the desktop, and select "Show on Desktop" or an
option like that...I forgot the exact wording, sorry =/
