DESKTOP problem...MY ICONS are all gone

When I first boot up, the desktop icons are visible.After the boot up is
complete...my icons are all gone
I then have to right click the task bar and select SHOW THE DESKTOP and all
my icons reappear...BUT
as soon as I select one of the icons on the desktop, the program selected
runs BUT AGAIN all the icons disappear. I again
have to right click the TASKBAR and select SHOW THE DESKTOP
I would appreciate any help to rectify this problem.

Have you recently updated your display drivers or ran a Windows Update which
did the same? If so, try a rollback via the Device Manager. If not:
