Greg,

See if extracting a copy of the file fxsocm.inf from Windows XP CD helps.
Extract the file to %Windir%\Inf folder. FxsOcm.inf file description as
follows:

;======================================================
; FxsOcm.inf
;
; This file is the inf that drives the fax setup
; during the GUI portion of Windows Setup
;======================================================

Ramesh,
By extract, do you mean copy from the CD to the inf folder? I have found 2
fxsocm fileson the CD: one type DL, one type IN. I want the IN file? I'm a
little new to XP...
Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

The "fxsocm.in_" file in the CD is in a compressed form. Use the Expand
command.

Example: To expand the sysoc.in_ file from XP CD

Insert the Windows XP CD in the drive.
Click Start/Run and type CMD
In the Command Prompt, type this line:
expand X:\i386\sysoc.in_ -r c:\windows\inf
Where X:\ is your CD-ROM drive letter.

The above command assumes Windows is installed in C:\ drive. If not, change
the drive letter / Path accordingly.

Ramesh,
Thank you, this has moved me to the next step where I get the same error
code but this time for a file name netoc.inf. Do I take the same steps?
Regards,
Greg

Ramesh,
I followed this same process for three other files that were missing and
have been successful reaching the add/remove function.
Thank you for your help! Please close this issue.
