Canon i960 Question

Some of my photos appear to have washed out faces when I print, yet in
Photoshop and Easy Photoprint, they appear correct. The faces look
like they are exposed to too much flash. Any help would be
appreciated. Otherwise, regular prints are AWESOME on this printer.
Lab quality all the way.

Thanks!
Todd

Try un-checking "Vivid Photo" in printer Preferences/Effects. Also, I find
Easy-PhotoPrint Plus sometimes works better when Photo Optimizer Pro is
unchecked as well.

You can't rely on your monitor and your printer to have the
same colour rendition without a great deal of tweaking of
both. Apart from the fact that they produce colours
differently (one by addition, the other by subtraction -
read up on this in a good art text), your settings for the
monitor to suit your room's lighting conditions and your
sense of what looks right further increase the mismatch.
Also, different software uses different palettes, and some
automatically adjusts skintones so that the photos display
well on the typical monitor (whatever that is.) IOW,
getting a print that looks like what you see on your
monitor is a combination of luck and art.

Try making a number of test prints with different settings
in the software you use, and on different papers. Use a
"difficult" photo, one that has many subtle colour tones.
(I've found that bright colours tend to print well
regardless.) And, oh yeah, keep careful and complete notes
- don't ask me how I know! You can also use "colour
profiles" if your printer and software support them, but
from what I've read that's an art in itself. Still, if you
want more control, I guess you'll have to master that art,
too. :)

HTH & have fun!
