Canon i950 & i960 Questions

I have a 740 and use Epson ink. On occasion three weeks can go by without
printing (I have a laser printer for text that I use daily). No clogging,
ever, since I bought the 740 in March 99. I always turn the printer off
with its off button and never with the computer or the multiple plug dingy.

That's seems to be dependent on individual printer.

I've used epson photo 750 for 2 years with minor clogging problem (1 or 2
cycle did clean as a rule).

With my 1-year old epson photo 890 it is much worse -- it cloggs randomly
with reguilar use (once a week) and cloggs for sure if not in use for more
than a week.

This is so frustrating that I'm concidering to change the brand even for
worse picture quality, as with my epson 890 the quality is a way too
expensive in terms of money and nerves -- those constant need of cleaning is
just unacceptable.

I have three Epson printers. An old Stylus Color 800, a Photo 820 and a
Photo 1270.

Every single one of them has suffered head clogs. The Stylus 800 is pretty
much a gonner.

The 820, if it sits for more than a few days, needs several cleaning cycles
to clear the clogs.

The 1270 also clogs if it sits for more than a few days, and it's about
toast too. I can get the clogs out (mostly), but now it's spattering ink
all over the place.

Nothing but original Epson cartridges have ever been used in these printers.

In contrast, my Canon i950 (now about 8 months old I believe) has never,
EVER had a single head clog. In fact, I just used it for the first time in
over a month, and the first printout was perfect with no anomolies.

So, in my _personal_ experience, yes head clogging on Epsons is a genuine
concern and along with the ink costs it's why I moved to Canon printers.

YMMV.

My eaperience is the SAME (with the exception of the model numbers of the Epsons (mine are
the PhotoStylus 825 and the PhotoStylus 785epx). The Canons are i950 and S820.

It doesn't keep me from using the Epsons, but I know I wont be using them on "a moments
notice"

Its not a problem with my HP printers as those change the heads with the cartridge.

I'm not really sure, actually. I think the basic printing engine, inks,
etc.. are the same.

I had a 870 and a 890 clogs, clogs ,clog both oem and 3rd party inks

Now have a canon i950.
Better prints.
No clogs.
No color casts.
Easy to refil.

Epson sucks.

My i950 has been absolutely perfect, and it's sat as long as 5 weeks without
being used and the first page out was perfect.

The way my Epson 1270 is working right now, it could be used to print the
patterns on Wonder-Bread wrappers, color dots and all.

I had a terrible time with my Epson 890. Engineer came out three times to
swap it and every one gave the same results. Switched to a i950, no
probolems at all and the colour matching was so good that I am saving a
fortune in paper and ink as I don't have to do test prints. What apears on
screen is what gets printed.

I had a minor clog of some sort that caused some banding on my i950. I
did the alignment, and it didn't help, so I did the cleaning twice.
Still very happy with it. Hope that was a freak thing.
