Cannot watch published movie on DVD player

I need some serious help here folks!

I am using Movie Maker 6 (SP1) that comes with Vista and am trying to
publish a simple project that definitely previews right. The steps that I go
through are:

- hit publish movie
- select DVD (I am then taken to DVD Maker)
- I leave all my setting as default, which is:
->start with DVD Menu
->aspect ratio is 4:3
->video format is NTSC
->burn speed is fastest
** I live in North America and don't have a WS TV **

- the burn process completes and ejects the DVD
- I put the DVD in the player and it doesn't recognize the DVD at all
- I put it in the computer to see what's up and the computer recognizes it
but doesn't automatically play it.

If I run the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, the video will play but what happens is I
get two images of the movie (it appears to be some kind of overlay issues or
something). Not sure if this help. I've tried Adobe Premiere and got the
same results (i.e. burns fine but doesn't play ...).

Any reason why this may be happening?

Wizard008,

I don't have an answer regarding the playback problems your seeing on your
PC. However, is it possible that your TV DVD player requires a different type
of DVD blank than you used?

What did you burn the DVD on, a DVD-R or a DVD+R?

Many DVD players will not play both types of DVDs. Some do play both, but it
seems most require a DVD-R to be used, but not all.

Generally, the DVD player manual will state what type of DVDs can be played.
If you can't find the information in your manual, try to make a new DVD using
the opposite type of blank than you used for the first one.
